Position Summary    

                                              

The National Technology Manager – Software oversee the development team and the execution of software development projects. This position is responsible for team leadership, developing/reviewing code, architecting solutions, project planning, and program management. Additionally, this position functions in an internal leadership role, coaching, mentoring, and managing a team of developers.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Software Development Management

  • Lead project planning and sizing activities, identify resource requirements, and oversee a team of internal and external resources capable of producing specified deliverables
  • Create and maintain a software development project plan that communicates tasks, milestone dates, status, and resource allocation
  • Identify and communicate major milestones and risks to achieving those milestones in a positive manner
  • Coordinate delivery of development (beta) and production releases that meet quality assurance standards
  • Manage software development projects to ensure quality, on time, within budget delivery from requirement definition through testing, rollout, and support
  • Perform work breakdown and task identification, assign tasks to project resources, track progress on assigned tasks, and manage the assembly of completed tasks into coherent deliverables

Technical Leadership

  • Architect, design, develop, test, and deploy code for large scale applications
  • Plan and execute efforts to address technical debt for legacy systems and processes
  • Share acquired skills/knowledge with team members and mentor junior engineers
  • Collaborate with test team in creating a Quality Assurance strategy for supporting both new and legacy systems
  • Develop and enforce development best practices
  • Lead code reviews and technical exchange sessions
  • Manage the development and maintenance of technical documents 

End User Support

  • Create a user support structure that addresses user requests with minimal impact on ongoing project work

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Direct Reports

Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

 

Indirect Reports

May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

 

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

 

Travel and Driving are essential duties and function of this job 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required)  Bachelor's Degree  or equivalent experience

                                                 

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Business, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science preferred

  • 6+ years of significant experience with C#, .NET, SQL, JavaScript
  • Experience leading software development teams through all phases of the SDLC
  • Experience managing business clients or customers
  • Current experience presenting technical solutions to business and technical audiences
  • Advanced communication, organization, and project management skills
  • SCRUM Master and working within an Agile process a plus
  • Prior consulting experience is a big plus 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience architecting systems and leading teams in a Microsoft development environment

 

    • C# / .NET
    • T-SQL
    • Microsoft Visual Studio
    • Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • The ability to analyze ambiguous technical and customer situations and determine appropriate solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to provide cross-functional leadership
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive work environment by motivating and managing people
  • Experience architecting technical solutions for complex problems
  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment
  • Team building Skills

Environmental & Physical Requirements

 

Office / Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
