Senior Software Engineer AX

 

The Senior Software Engineer designs and develops and supports software that support the business units (Sales, Marketing, HR, etc) in Advantage Sales and Marketing; systems and software include Dynamics AX, Business Intelligence, and other strategic custom software applications. Will manage stakeholders, gather requirements, design solutions, write and review code.

  • Work with many technologies and work as a senior member of the technical team and IS&T implementer for business stakeholders.  
  • Work as a member of the technical team and IS&T implementer for business stakeholders.  
  • Execute custom application development, AX development, business intelligence and IS&T strategic projects.
  • Own platform subsystems/components.

Position Summary

 

The Senior Software Engineer designs and develops and supports software that support the business units (Sales, Marketing, HR, etc) in Advantage Sales and Marketing; systems and software include Dynamics AX, Business Intelligence, and other strategic custom software applications. Will manage stakeholders, gather requirements, design solutions, write and review code.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Software Development

  • Perform design, development, testing, implementation and documentation within a fast-paced, agile-based work environment
  • Perform system administration including administering security roles, profiles, workflows, etc.
  • Enforcement and assistance of all Governance (including but not limited to Security and Compliance)
  • Drive and enforce the development lifecycle including but not limited to standard practices, QA and code reviews.
  • Develop Unit Test Scripts and complete all unit testing,
  • Develop User Acceptance test scripts and work with business users to complete User Acceptance testing
  • Develop and prepare resulting deployment packages and guide or assist in deployments
  • Develop and assist in preparation/completion of any applicable training materials
  • Develop and maintain all system documentation and technical libraries
  • Assist in Sprint planning sessions to identify capacity and organize backlog and sprint deliverables
  • Provide status updates orally and in written to Team members including Project Leader(s), IS leader(s), Business sponsor(s) and executive staff
  • All other tasks and / or duties as requested

Stakeholder Management

  • Gather and convert Business Requirements into Functional Designs and Wireframes
  • Provide recommended solutions for complex business problems

End User Support

  • Triage and troubleshoot issues with users
  • Support user training and onboarding activities

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree / B.S. in MIS, Computer Science or comparable major

                         (Preferred): Bachelor's Degree / B.S. in MIS, Computer Science or comparable major                 

  • 5+ Years of experience with windows development architectures / Microsoft technology stack, including SQL, .NET, TFS, etc. 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience with Microsoft AX and Dynamics AX Application Integration Framework Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services Deep functional knowledge or hands on design experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc.) is needed to be successful in this position.
  • 2-3+ years in an Agile environment
  • Should have strong analytical and quantitative analysis skills
  • Familiarity with tools, concepts & methodology of business analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Sound co-ordination and follow up skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Be a strong team player
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents written in English, with good communication skills on email and phone conferences
  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with other software engineers
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
