Summary

Leadership Development Associate

 

Advantage Sales and Marketing's Accelerated Career Experience (ACE) program is designed for recent college graduates who wish to pursue a career in sales and marketing. This year-long immersion program provides leadership training in several areas of the company including, but not limited to: marketing, retail/sales, category management, and corporate entities. Each associate (Leadership Development Associate) participating in the ACE Program must select one career track of focus throughout the entirety of the 12 month program (i.e. marketing, retail/sales, category management, and corporate).

All participants experience a variety of on-the-job training, structured learning and project collaboration with peers and leadership on different levels. Each associate is assigned to a seasoned coach who guides them through the program. In addition to the day-to-day job duties in his/her specific track, ACE –Leadership Development Associates (LDAs) will be called upon to complete real-world case studies and simulations to further deepen his/her skill set and knowledge of the business. Example projects may include preparing a client presentation or creating a new item presentation.
ACE participants are presented with opportunities to interact with executive leaders within the company, giving them the chance to gain industry knowledge, set goals to achieve a desired career path, and establish a good reputation within the company.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Sales & Marketing

 

  • May develop and recommend strategic solutions which align with company, division, or team business objectives resulting in additional business for our clients or recommend strategic solutions to improve project management process, and promote client objectives and client relations.
  • May be responsible for servicing and selling to retail accounts within an assigned territory to ensure Client standards are met and volume is increased.

Corporate (HR/IT/Fianance)

  • Within Human Resources, may provide strategic solutions to supervisors and managers on methods to approach and resolve employee relations issues including but not limited to employee complaints, workplace conflicts, and HR programs which help achieve business objectives.
  • In the IT division, may support activities related to design, testing and deployment of applications used by our retail teams in the field.
  • May work with the Finance teams that support Sales and Marketing by helping support monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, and prepare accurate and insightful financial analysis.

Leadership Training

  • Responsible for timely completion of training program and curriculum that utilizes competency based individual development plans. 
  • Gain knowledge of cross-functional divisions, and understand both internal and external client and customer needs in order to position services, programs or products to meet those needs
  • Learn about ASM, our industry, and business leadership through on-the-job training as part of a fulltime ASM primary position.

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

  • Travel and Driving may or may not be an essential duty and function of this job (Depending on career track)

Minimum Qualifications

 

The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

 

Education Level

 

(Required): Bachelor's Degree

(Preferred): Bachelor's Degree

 

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Sales and Marketing

  • 0-2 years of experience in and demonstrated leadership within an organization, volunteer work, or work related experience

 

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, and Software/Tools

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation delivery to large/small groups across all levels of management to influence, inform, and guide others
  • Must have the ability to balance strategic (big picture) thinking with tactical application (detail oriented and execution focused)
  • Proven business partnering skills across all levels of management to lead, influence, and drive behavior change without formal authority across a broad range of levels within an educational environment 
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage projects within budget and fulfill educational requirements
  • Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups
  • Displays the ability to achieve desired results through others with positive, energetic and enthusiastic communication
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to translate data to insight
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with competing priorities and knows how to accomplish deliverables in a timely manner

  • Ability to identify performance challenges or issues and work with team to improve/correct those issues

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Outlook is required
  • E/R modeling experience using tools such as ERWin, PowerDesigner, ERStudio 
  • Experience working with Microsoft technologies (SQL Server 2008 (or newer)
  • Experience and ability to work within software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
  • ETL development experience using tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Multidimensional database development experience using tools such as SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Windows Server components including the registry, file systems, services, and system management tools
  • Cisco Call Manager / VoIP knowledge
  • Proficient in Project Management tools (i.e., MS Project) or similar project tool (s)

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, climb, or possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.
