Sr Systems Analyst

 

As a member of the Data Center and Systems Engineering team, the Senior Systems Analyst provides support to senior engineers and management. This is a hands on position that requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for learning new technology. The Senior Systems Analyst is expected to have a broad depth of experience working with multiple operating systems, networking, scripting, and OS/hardware troubleshooting.

Position Summary

 

As a member of the Data Center and Systems Engineering team, the Senior Systems Analyst provides support to senior engineers and management. This is a hands on position that requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for learning new technology. The Senior Systems Analyst is expected to have a broad depth of experience working with multiple operating systems, networking, scripting, and OS/hardware troubleshooting.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and problem solving, have an interesting in developing new skills, and an interest in actively supporting and working with senior engineers on the team.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Operational Support

  • Provide project support to senior engineers and management
  • Manage help desk request queue.
  • Provision virtual machines
  • Monitor server alerts, trouble-shoot issues, and coordinate hardware replacement
  • Manage data center and office system inventory. Coordinate and plan hardware lease refresh with senior engineers and management.
  • Monitor and manage the ASM enterprise backups
  • Interface with Tier 1 and Tier 2 PC support to assist with end user computing issues.
  • Work with senior engineers to data center and satellite office servers
  • Support data center Windows Server systems (emphasis on Server 2008 R2 and 2012).

Does not have direct reports, but may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education Level: (Required)    Bachelor's Degree          or equivalent experience

                                      

Field of Study/Area of Experience:  Computer science or equivalent job-related experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in supporting Windows systems in an enterprise environment
  • 2+ years of experience working with TCP/IP printers and print servers
  • 2+ years of experience working with network technologies
  • 1+ year with OS virtualization technologies
  • 1+ year of experience managing server operating systems

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers
  • Intermediate level knowledge of PC software applications and strong understanding of PC operating systems
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to complete multiple duties with accuracy shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadline
  • Windows Server components including the registry, file systems, services, and system management tools
  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the following communication and connectivity systems required: Microsoft TCP/IP, networking protocols, network printing / printer troubleshooting, file sharing, Internet application connectivity

Office / Sedentary Requirements

 

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.  A detailed Environmental and Physical Requirements document is available in the Total Rewards department.
