    Responsibilities:

    • May assist with the planning and execution of needs analysis activities, as needed. Partners with Talent Development associates, and/or subject matter experts to research content information.
    • With direction and assistance, creates and manages project plans/timelines for material development.
    • Designs and develops instructional sound curriculum for paper-based learning materials, including tools, job aids, instructor-led training, and self-study materials.
    • Contributes to design documents and storyboards for e-learning projects, for both systems and non-systems content.
    • Redesigns existing paper-based content to convert it into an e-learning format.
    • Remains abreast of adult learning principles and theory, instructional design methods and evaluation techniques.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in the area of Instructional Design; Retail /CPG industry is a plus
    • 3 years of experience of related professional experience in instructional design for either paper-based or e-learning formats, preferably in a sales or marketing company
    • Technical skills: Storyline, Articulate Studio, Camtasia, Adobe CS4 Suite, Captivate, Flash, HTML design experience preferred
    • Multimedia learning design experience preferred, to include mobile learning technology, video-based learning, and virtual learning methods 
    • Project management experience preferred

    Position Summary

     

    The Instructional Designer researches, designs, and develops innovative and practical learning solutions that support the needs of both the business and the learners, while also updating and re-purposing existing learning content. In addition, the Instructional Designer will support all functions within the Company's organization.

     

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists in the development of strategies and approaches for new learning initiatives.
    • May assist with planning and execution of needs analysis activities, as needed.
    • Writes learning objectives to describe desired outcomes and ensures learning materials support those objectives.
    • Partners with Talent Development associates, and/or subject matter experts to research content information
    • With direction and assistance, creates and manages project plans/timelines for material development.  Designs and develops instructionally sound curriculum for paper-based learning materials, including tools, job aids, instructor-led training, and self-study materials.
    • Contributes to design documents and storyboards for e-learning projects, for both systems and non-systems content. 
    • Builds Level 2 and Level 3 assessments linked to the learning objectives, under the direction of Talent Development Managers.
    • Redesigns existing paper-based content to convert it to an e-learning format.
    • Remains abreast of adult learning principles and theory, instructional design methods and evaluation techniques.
    • Remains abreast of training industry and training department standards as they relate to instructional design.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

     

    Education Level:

     

    (Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

                                       

    (Preferred): Instructional Design Degree or equivalent experience                        

    Field of Study/Area of Experience: Instructional Design

    • 3 years of experience of related professional experience in instructional design for either paper-based or e-learning formats, preferably in a sales or marketing company.
    • Articulate Studio, Camtasia, Adobe CS4 Suite, Captivate, Flash, HTML design experience preferred.
    • Multimedia learning design experience preferred, to include mobile learning technology, video based learning and virtual learning methods 
    • Project management experience preferred

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    • Thorough understanding of adult learning principles, and ability to apply those principles to both e-learning and paper-based projects.
    • Good understanding of project management principles and ability to apply those principles to a project.
    • Basic understanding of learning evaluation and measurement principles, and ability to apply those principles.
    • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to organize and prioritize workload for optimum efficiency.
    • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of associates and management, as well as with the public and outside vendors
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
    • Ability to resolve conflict appropriately and effectively resolve problems
    • Must perform the job safely and utilize proper safety techniques and use of equipment when appropriate.

    Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
