Senior Business Manager


Reporting to Advantage Unified Commerce senior leadership, this role plays a crucial part in our continued growth and success.  The Senior Business Manager role is the key account manager for a large CPG Walmart client, where the individual will manage the client’s Walmart account, serve in a leadership capacity with internal team members and work cross functionally across the broader Advantage team and client contacts. Excellent project management skills, as well as poise, confidence and strategic thinking go a long way in this role.  


Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for providing strategic, tactical and operational leadership with the Advantage Walmart team
  • Expert knowledge of Walmart from an omni and digital perspective, with experience with Walmart portals (Retail Link, Item360, Supplier Center, etc.) to deliver world class sales growth by planning and executing alongside the Advantage team and client.
  • Communicating with and presenting to our client regularly as their Senior Business Manager and main point of contact at Advantage Solutions - we are strategic business partners. 
    • Management and creation of weekly agendas, sales performance reports, trackers and deliverables
    • Creation of brand analyses with actionable insights for the client to action with the support of our team
    • Develop ad-hoc crisis management reporting to help make proactive business decisions.
    • Working with our internal data analytics team to develop meaningful and custom reporting capabilities.
      • Weekly and/or monthly reporting on sales, inventory, new product launches and overall business status.
    • Stay on the cutting edge of Walmart / e-commerce insights and trends to be a true subject matter expert. 
      • Ability to share and determine insights of how this will impact the clients’ business with recommendations and proactive solutions
    • Closely work with the client team to create / set KPI’s, budgets, forecasts, etc. to achieve annual sales goals
  • Work closely and collaborate with our Digital Shelf / Content Team to effectively manage content updates and optimizations for above the fold and below the fold content and imagery.
  • Work closely and collaborate with our Media Team to effectively manage media and promotional budgets. Develop cohesive strategy for key time periods (i.e. Summer Savings, Doggie Days of Summer, etc.) for effective promotional execution.
  • Maintain certification and knowledge of external data processing tools, such as Profitero, Analytic Index, Skai and others.
  • Leading the team to be accountable, collaborative partners to our client and the rest of the organization.  Managing the team through change, setting them up to be successful and being supportive as they grow. 
  • Keeping up and institutionalizing the changes in our fast-paced world of e-commerce. Lead training sessions with client and internal teams for best in class practices.
  • Actively engaging in company culture and leadership, driving a fun, positive, virtual work environment that is scalable, collaborative and results oriented.  This is a leadership position and as such setting a good example is key.



  • We are looking for the perfect blend of / e-commerce sales experience, agency experience, consumer product industry experience and team leadership experience
  • Strong communication skills, presence and confidence a must - both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Proven track record for delivering results, rising to the challenge and being part of a fast growing company is definitely a plus
  • High level of proficiency in Office suite - Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Experience and success working from home as part of a virtual, remote culture.  This includes a dedicated, quiet space as the role is not suitable for coffee shops or those without child care. 
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • / E-commerce: 3 - 5 years (preferred)
  • Team Management: 1+ year (required)
  • US work authorization (required)


Compensation Overview:

  • Competitive compensation depending on experience that includes base salary, 401K eligibility, health insurance, and a monthly stipend for phone.

Job Duty


Business/Functional Results

  • Achieve budgeted goals for area of accountability
  • Support account team in the development of sales plans
  • Increase Daymon business connectivity with customers
  • Effectively negotiate supplier commission rates to grow category or team revenue.

Managing Execution

  • Ensure execution of the LAMP framework to identify the most critical initiatives and relationships and work with the team to lay out short and long term plans to achieve relationships at the appropriate level for the account or assigned category business unit
  • Allocate resources at the account level or within assigned category business unit
  • Demonstrate functional expertise in all facets of Private Brand & Branding via on-the-job development, educational and networking opportunities
  • Develop strong supplier relationships by obtaining alignment and developing and delivering on mutually established goals.
  • Ensuring appropriate amount of support (time & resource allocation) for our top relationships

Generating Talent

  • Attract, develop and retain key talent to enable the execution of the collective goals of the customer and the enterprise
  • Assure succession plans are in place for critical roles
  • Motivates, directs and inspires team members to deliver on the agreed upon metrics of the customer and suppliers in conjunction with the needed resources/teams across the enterprise
  • Identify expected level of decision-making and expected level of risk-taking for team members

Strategic Leadership

  • Execute new strategic initiatives for the account or the assigned categories
  • Support, provide guidance with customer issues relating to cost/value
  • Foster thought leadership within account team
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Private Brand landscape, best practices and where customers currently exist in these areas
  • Typically 3+ reports (ABMs, BMs); must develop team members’ roles and responsibilities

Managing Relationships

  • Owns director-level relationships with assigned customer and suppliers
  • Directs, delegates and empowers effectively

Direct Reports

- Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources


Indirect Reports

- May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required):    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience


Field of Study/Area of Experience: Business

5+ Years of experience in building and nurturing brands; private brand management
