A Principal Software Architect at Advantage Intelligence is a senior level architect. A Principal Software Architect at Advantage Intelligence makes high-level design choices and frames technical standards, including tools, software coding standards, or platforms to be used. To be effective, a Principal Software Architect needs broad and deep technical knowledge to make high-level decisions about each stage of the software development lifecycle process. However, more than technical knowledge is required, as Principal Software Architects must also have the soft skills to manage and positively influence projects and people.

 

Responsibilities for Principal Software Architect at Advantage Intelligence

 

  • Primary Responsibilities:
    • Collaborating with various stakeholders to determine software requirements
    • Creating high-level product specifications and design documents (conceptual and physical diagrams)
    • Providing the development team with architectural blueprints to follow
    • Ensure the security of all software systems
    • Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
    • Actively seek ways to improve business software processes and interactions
    • Enhance our cloud capability by creating and implementing cloud application patterns
    • Work closely with lead architects and engineers to create and maintain architectural templates, build/operational documents, and automation playbooks
  • Secondary Responsibilities:
    • Research and properly evaluate sources of information to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability
    • Help other development and engineering teams resolve application-to-platform integration issues for Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services
    • Maintain domain knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations
    • Coach and mentor engineering teams to raise collective technical expertise
    • Testing the final product to ensure it is entirely functional and meets requirements
    • Use a proactive approach to common challenges and continually researching best practices in coding

 

Qualifications / Skills / Requirements

  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills are essential
  • 5+ yrs. Experience working on large-scale software projects
  • 5+ yrs. Exposure to cloud-managed services, serverless technology and microservices like Function-as-a-Service, Containers, and managed databases
  • 5+ yrs. Experience developing software utilizing various coding languages, including Java, Python, .Net, JavaScript, and more
  • 5+ yrs. Experience overseeing customized development of processes for multiple projects simultaneously
  • 5+ yrs. Experience designing secure software systems based upon industry specifications
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of web applications, webhook and API development, cybersecurity, and open-source technologies
  • Demonstrate a track record of leading within complex organizations requiring strong influence management skills - the ability to work cooperatively at all levels in a matrix environment

The salary range for this role is $145,000-$160,000.

Position Summary
The Solutions Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of application development projects ensuring those map to business requirements as well as systems/technical requirements. The Solutions Architect works as a team member along with the Software Engineering team to develop and deliver complete solutions for the Advantage Sales and Marketing business units and clients.


• Manages the selection and/or recommendations of technologies and platforms used in application development efforts
• Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for used technologies and platforms
• Researches and manages implementation of suitable technology updates/upgrades across applications
• Works as a team member on the application development team to ensure business needs are being met
• Writes code based on business requirements
• Audits and give final approval of code before production releases


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Job Duty 


Software Development
• Design, develop, unit test, and deploy code
• Update and upgrade development environments and infrastructure
• Audit code written by application development engineers against development standards
• Mentor application development engineers on best practices and acquired skills/knowledge
• Ensure all source code is accounted for, organized, and documented
• Manage deployment of code to production environments

 

Research
• Locate and recommend up-to-date practices, including 3rd Party solution alternatives, as part of the functional design of applications
• Work with stakeholders to architect applications so they are designed to evolve and grow with the business

 

End User Support
• Triage and troubleshoot issues with users
• Support user training
• Manage transition of application support to the Help Desk team

- Does not have direct reports, but may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience


Field of Study/Area of Experience: MIS, Computer Science or comparable major

10+ years of experience in using Microsoft Technology Stack including C#/.NET, or related experience

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Good knowledge of related technologies such as WPF, ASP.NET, SQL, AJAX, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Subversion, Hibernate, jQuery, MVC, or other related skills
• Experience working with business clients or customers
• Experience with multiple phases of the SDLC
• Should have strong leadership, analytical and quantitative analysis skills
• Familiarity with tools, concepts & methodology of business analysis
• Strong interpersonal skills

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
