Summary

Data Engineer II (Remote)

 

Advantage Intelligence, a software development arm of Advantage Solutions (NASDAQ: ADV), is growing and in need of a motivated and adaptable individual to build out the data science function within engineering. The successful candidate will enable both a consulting and product approach to ML, where some initiatives are focused on delivering 1-time insights, while other initiatives are focused on building ML functionality into new and existing software products. This is a new hire due to growth.

 

The position is remote eligible (in the US).

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with your team in an agile methodology to develop software according to requirements
  • Write well-formatted, commented code which is readable and self-documenting
  • Deliver work on time and to specification with minimal corrective input from seniors or leads
  • Read and understand user stories and provide accurate estimates for work
  • Follow coding conventions and standards
  • Build services with multiple end points intended for customer/client consumption
  • Support and maintain new and existing solutions
  • Accept guidance/mentorship from senior developers on patterns, practices, and data structures
  • Punctually attend regular stand-up meetings to discuss work and help remove roadblocks for yourself and others
  • Write unit and/or integration tests to provide a proof for your work and to increase quality and trust in deployments

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Invest in yourself: sharpen and broaden skills, internalize feedback from your peers, and improve from your mistakes
  • Work closely with other developers in collaborative programming habits such as pair programming
  • Contribute to conversations with stakeholders and senior devs about implementation of requirements
  • Participate in regular team huddles (voice calls) or team chats about progress of work, and be open and communicative with your team lead about status

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

  • Above all else, top-notch collaboration and communication (verbal and written) skills are critical
  • 1+ year of experience working on professional software projects in a collaborative agile environment
  • 2+ years of experience in C#, C++, or Java
  • Some experience with any combination of Python, Go, Ruby, or Typescript
  • Experienced in using Unix-style operating systems (Mac, Linux) and Windows
  • 1+ year of experience using Git for intermediate use cases such as branching, rebasing, cherry-picking, and reverting commits
  • Excellent time management capabilities

The salary range for this role is $85,000-$115,000.

Position Summary

 

The position of Software Engineer II specializes in full-stack development in ASP.Net MVC. This person will be part of a high performance team responsible for building internal and external web applications for our retail analytics product suite. The ideal candidate will be experienced with Bootstrap, JQuery, JavaScript, and other web frameworks, in addition to having prior experience with mentoring junior developers.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy code for ASM's technology platforms
  • Share acquired skills/knowledge with team members and mentor junior engineers as necessary
  • Actively contribute new ideas and programming concepts to the team
  • Provide recommended solutions for complex business problems
  • Lead medium-size projects with strict deadlines
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot production application issues
  • Document install features for product releases
  • Provide input to senior management on emerging trends
  • Work with business stakeholder to gather requirements and create project plans

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

                                                       

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline

2-4 years of experience in .NET/SQL

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge in .NET 4.5/C# and ASP.Net MVC
  • Strong knowledge of related technologies such as Bootstrap, JQuery, Angular JS, JavaScript, and other web frameworks
  • Experience with SQL Server 2008 R2+ or equivalent. Ability to write Ad-Hoc SQL
  • Familiar with Entity Framework (Code First and Database First)
  • Familiar with Agile Development Practices
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with other software engineers
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem
  • Microsoft technologies (SQL Server 2012, Visual Studio etc)
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
