Position Summary
The Manager Trade Spend will help support the implementation of a TPx, TPO, or TPM solution. In addition, this person will analyze data to provide complex and comprehensive analysis for strategies and events to help develop recommendations for promotional and pricing guidelines. This person will track compliance to approved trade guidelines and collaborate with sales to improve ROI (Return on Investment) on promotions and pricing. The learnings will be shared back with Sales, Trade Marketing and Finance. The Manager Trade Spend will support monthly channel/key account P&L reviews with the sales teams for improving net sales/gross margin and provide guidance to improve the annual target setting and planning cycle.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Data Collection & Analysis
• Leverages COE system and IRI data to Collaborate on promo effectiveness reviews (including e.g., promotional responsiveness of products and brands, trade rates by account, event level ROI analysis) with Revenue Management/Trade Marketing teams
• Lead analytics to support development of promotional guidelines based on trade promotion effectiveness for the brand portfolio / channels and key accounts
• Analyze the ROI of additional trade spend levers to optimize the trade spend investment
• Manage proprietary BI tool(s), to analyze data-intensive sales causal elements and identify key drivers and opportunities with respect to promotions, distribution, pricing, assortment and new items
Client/Customer Engagement
• Supports the RGM / Trade Management team in the implementation and successful rollout of a TPx, TPO, or TPM solution (e.g. developing training materials, documenting processes, executing training sessions, inputting data or other activities)
• Engages with customers and clients to understand strategies and objectives and conduct monthly review with Sales teams / VP of Sales for evaluating promo efficiency performance vs planned performance by channel/key accounts
• Leverages knowledge on the industry to create mutually beneficial solutions for all parties involved. Build and maintain a positive, productive relationship with Trade Marketing, Field Sales, and Brand Team stakeholders
• Collaborate with the Revenue Management Team for improving promotional planning and setting guardrails for Sales team execution
Presentation Development/Delivery
• Creates insight driven presentations with actionable tactics and strategies to deliver business solutions for improving net sales return
• Develops creative presentations with an eye toward story-telling, focused on flow, visualizations and headlines
• Develop “Pay for Performance” Trade Investment strategic framework for customer negotiation

- Does not have direct reports, but may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports
Location, Travel and/or Driving Requirements
• Remote based position
• Travel requirements will be dependent on the client with the expectation of 0-5% annually
Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• 6+ years in the FMCG industry
• 4+ years of experience in trade analytics, category management, business intelligence, project management or similar
• Microsoft Office experience: Highly proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Syndicated Data experience: Experience with IRI, Nielsen, and other relevant platforms preferred
• Exposure to RGM tools or TPx, TPO and/or TPM solutions (i.e. Periscope, Sequoya, Eversight, XTEL, SAP, etc…)
• Experience supporting an enterprise implementation of RGM solutions (i.e. TPx, TPO and/or TPM)
• Financial acumen and P&L management with an understanding of the need for rigor regarding spending choices and the importance of ROI
• Intellectually curious, eager to problem solve, and a quick learner
• Well-organized and strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets, appetite for numbers and analytics
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team; a hunger for “winning together”

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
