Sr. Manager of Data Quality

 

The Sr. Manager of Data Quality is a senior data professional tasked with driving and upholding the highest standards of quality across the organization’s analytical data assets. This leadership/hands on role involves developing and executing comprehensive data quality strategies, measurement frameworks, and processes that ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data for business insights, analytics, and decision-making, while adhering to strict security and compliance standards.

 

As a key advocate for data excellence, the Sr. Manager of Data Quality will establish, enforce, and elevate data quality standards throughout the organization. They will actively collaborate with data governance bodies, cross-functional teams, and senior stakeholders to address data issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions that enhance data integrity. Additionally, this role will provide strategic recommendations to continuously improve data quality and foster a culture of data stewardship across departments. Having hands-on expertise in Data Quality is a critical requirement.

 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Develop and Lead Data Quality Strategy
    Design and implement an organization-wide data quality strategy, including measurement frameworks, policies, and processes that ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability. Provide direction for both immediate and long-term data quality initiatives to support business objectives and analytics needs.

 

  1. Establish and Enforce Data Quality Standards
    Define and uphold rigorous data quality standards and best practices. Actively collaborate with data governance bodies, compliance teams, and stakeholders to establish these standards across the organization, ensuring alignment with data security and regulatory requirements.

 

  1. Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams to Drive Data Quality Improvements
    Work closely with Data and Analytics (DnA) teams, business stakeholders, and data owners to define, implement, and refine data quality rules. Foster partnerships that support business success by ensuring data quality initiatives are well-integrated into business processes.

 

  1. Oversee and Optimize Data Quality Monitoring and Scorecards
    Create, manage, and enhance data quality scorecards, providing visibility into data health across the organization. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts and establish new data quality requirements in collaboration with stakeholders, focusing on continuous improvement.

 

  1. Ensure Sustainable Data Quality Infrastructure and Technology Enablement
    Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of data quality technologies and tools, ensuring they are scalable and aligned with organizational goals. Lead efforts to integrate these tools with existing platforms and secure the sustainability of data quality processes across systems.

 

  1. Drive a Culture of Data Stewardship and Quality
    Promote data stewardship practices across departments, embedding data quality responsibilities within the organization. Provide training and guidance to teams on data quality protocols and champion a proactive approach to data management and governance.

 

  1. Report and Communicate Data Quality Insights to Leadership
    Regularly report on data quality metrics, trends, and insights to executive leadership, translating technical findings into strategic recommendations. Drive data quality awareness across the organization and advocate for necessary changes to enhance data value.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  1. Advanced Technology Platform Expertise 

Proficiency with data quality and data management tools, specifically across platforms such as Informatica, Databricks, SQL Server, SAP and power BI. Strong understanding of technology ecosystems that support data governance, quality monitoring, and integration. 

 

  1. Comprehensive Cross-functional Business Knowledge 

Deep knowledge of cross-functional business processes and their impact on data quality, especially in complex, data-driven environments. Ability to anticipate how changes in processes affect data quality and ensure alignment with business objectives. 

 

  1. Industry Expertise in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and Retail 

Extensive experience in data quality management within CPG and retail sectors, including a thorough understanding of industry-specific challenges, regulatory requirements, and best practices for data management. 

 

  1. In-depth Knowledge of Data Quality and Data Management Practices 

Robust expertise in data quality principles, metrics, and management practices, including experience in mature data environments with well-established data governance. Familiarity with data lineage, data cleansing, metadata management, and related capabilities. 

 

  1. Strong Leadership and Collaborative Skills 

Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, data governance bodies, and executive stakeholders. Strong communication skills to influence peers and champion data quality initiatives organization-wide. 

 

  1. Strategic Vision and Analytical Skills 

Ability to think strategically about data quality as a business asset, with strong analytical skills to interpret data trends and drive data-informed decisions. Comfortable setting quality standards and building frameworks that support long-term data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • IT Product Strategy: Define and communicate a comprehensive IT product strategy that aligns with the organization's overall business strategy. Develop and maintain a product roadmap that outlines key initiatives and enhancements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, security, and business units, to ensure successful product development and delivery. Foster strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Market Research: Conduct research to identify industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT product management. Use market insights to inform product decisions and stay ahead of competitors.
  • Product Development: Lead the product development process, defining product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Work with engineering teams to prioritize and execute product enhancements.
  • Product Launch: Plan and execute product launches, including developing go-to-market strategies, pricing strategies, and marketing campaigns. Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to ensure successful product introductions.
  • Product Metrics: Define and track key performance metrics for IT products, such as system uptime, reliability, performance, and user satisfaction. Use data-driven insights to drive product improvements.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the IT product budget, including resource allocation, cost control, and financial forecasting.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with IT product development and deployment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate the IT product vision, strategy, and progress to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in from all relevant teams.

Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools, and resources.

May delegate work to others and provide guidance, direction, and mentoring to indirect reports.

 

Travel

Travel and Driving are not essential duties or functions of this job.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Field of Study: Business, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent job-related experience. PMI Certification is desired but not required.
Experience Requirements: 8+ years of experience in project management of varied complexities and scope.

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer, and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
