Retail Execution District Manager

Position Summary

The Retail Execution District Manager leads a team of retail associates within an assigned territory, ensuring excellence in merchandising, sales support, and in-store program execution. This role is responsible for driving retail performance through effective leadership, coaching, staffing, scheduling, and operational management.

The District Manager partners with store leadership and client stakeholders to ensure consistent execution of retail standards, achievement of business objectives, and delivery of exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Execution & Operations

  • Ensure successful execution of merchandising, audits, resets, promotions, and retail programs.
  • Maintain compliance with client standards, planograms, pricing, signage, and product placement expectations.
  • Monitor territory performance and address execution gaps through coaching and corrective action.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects and achievement of service-level expectations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop retail associates.
  • Conduct regular field visits to coach and evaluate team performance.
  • Provide clear performance expectations, feedback, and accountability measures.
  • Foster engagement, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Client & Store Partnership

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with store management and client partners.
  • Resolve execution challenges and ensure alignment with retailer and client objectives.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for territory-level operational issues.

Administrative Management

  • Oversee scheduling, territory coverage, payroll approvals, expense management, and reporting requirements.
  • Utilize reporting tools and performance metrics to drive operational efficiency and business results.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in retail operations, merchandising, field management, or related experience
  • Previous experience leading or supervising retail teams
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel up to 30% within the assigned territory

Preferred

  • Experience managing dispersed field-based teams
  • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or retail merchandising experience
  • Experience working with retail reporting and execution platforms

Responsibilities

  • Retail execution:
    • Oversees in-store program execution, merchandising, and audit activities to meet client standards
    • Ensures product placement, shelf standards, and merchandising compliance
  • People leadership:
    • Directly manages, coaches, and develops retail associates through field engagement and structured feedback
    • Supports hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management of frontline teams
  • Results and execution management:
    • Monitors execution through reporting and store visits; addresses performance gaps through coaching and training
    • Ensures timely completion of retail projects and coverage expectations
  • Client and store relationships:
    • Builds relationships with store leadership and client partners to support execution objectives
  • Operational and administrative excellence:
    • Manages schedules, reporting, and expenses aligned to territory expectations

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: High school education
  • Experience Requirements: 2-4 years experience in relevant field
  • Travel requirement: 30% travel expected

Environmental & Physical Requirements

 

Field Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in a retail in-store environment, which may include working in variable temperatures such as refrigerated areas, freezer sections and deli/bakery areas. The position typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each workday performing the following activities: Engage in considerable physical activity, ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, use consumer goods products, prepare, and serve food and beverages safely as appropriate for the product demonstration.
